MILESTONE SERVICES
Independent Living and Self-Management Programs
Our Independent Living and Self-Management Program empowers persons with disabilities to live independently by building essential skills, support systems, and access to resources, helping them participate confidently in their communities.
Personal Attendant Service and Training Programs
Personal Attendant Service and Training Programs empower individuals with disabilities to live independently by enabling them to choose and manage their own attendants for daily support, ensuring dignity, choice, and independence at home.
Victim Support and Peer Counselling
We provide specialized psychosocial support for persons with disabilities. Our services include crisis intervention, legal referral, trauma-informed counselling, and peer-led support groups. In these confidential spaces, individuals with shared lived experiences offer mutual emotional and practical guidance within an empathetic, non-judgmental environment.
Disability Rights Advocacy and Awareness
The Disability Rights program advocates for policies and services that create opportunities for people with disabilities to integrate in the social economics mainstream.
Assistive Technology and Customization Programs
Our Assistive Technology and Customization Programs provide persons with disabilities access to essential devices, mobility solutions, and personalized support services to promote independence, health, and community inclusion.
Disaster Management and Humanitarian Response
Our Disaster Management and Humanitarian Response program provides accessible rescue services and emergency support specifically to persons with disabilities and affected victims in general during disasters, including evacuation, safe shelters, and essential supplies. Prior to any disaster, we proactively ensure the accessibility of all designated evacuation shelters and relief camps.
Sports and Recreation Programs
Milestone Society for Special Persons introduced wheelchair cricket in the world years ago and has been actively participating in disability sports since then. Today, we organize annual national tournaments and professional teams for various wheelchair sports across multiple cities. Our flagship event, the Annual Abbottabad Sports Festival, held in collaboration with the Sports Board, remains the country’s largest disability sports festival, with wheelchair cricket as its centerpiece.
Inclusive Media and Culture Programs
We champion the representation and active participation of persons with disabilities in media, journalism, performing arts, and cultural events. Additionally, we offer music therapy sessions designed to promote positive behavioral changes, emotional regulation, and social engagement, thereby challenging stereotypes while fostering authentic narratives and therapeutic growth.
Volunteer and Internship Services
We operate a structured platform that engages community volunteers, including students from schools, colleges, and universities who develop disability awareness through hands-on experience, while also offering skill-building internships to persons with disabilities. Through this reciprocal model, volunteers gain empathy and practical insights, while interns acquire workplace readiness and professional networks within a supportive, accessible environment.
Women Empowerment and Leadership Training Programs
We deliver targeted interventions that address the intersecting discrimination faced by women and girls with disabilities. Our components include gender-sensitive leadership development, financial literacy, legal rights awareness, self-defense training, and incubation of women-led peer networks. These efforts aim to enhance agency, personal safety, and socio-economic participation.
Accessibility Audits
We conduct systematic, evidence-based evaluations of infrastructure, transport, and public services to identify physical, sensory, and attitudinal barriers. Our audit teams include persons with disabilities who assess real-world usability using a quantitative scoring framework and recommendation reports aligned with universal design principles, UNCRPD, and national accessibility standards.
Inclusive Education
Our inclusive education program ensures that classrooms, curriculum and teacher trainings are physically and socially inclusive for persons with disabilities. Additionally, we implement school and community-centered interventions that support the enrollment, retention, and academic success of children with disabilities in mainstream educational settings.
Referral and Outreach
We operate a coordinated referral mechanism that connects persons with disabilities to essential external services, including healthcare, vocational rehabilitation, legal aid, social protection schemes, and housing support. Simultaneously, we proactively reach underserved populations in remote or marginalized communities through mobile camps, door-to-door campaigns, and strategic inter-agency collaboration.
